Renewable electricity generation is expanding at a record pace across the Americas, with both continents posting notable gains in wind, solar, and hydroelectric output. The latest data confirms that clean energy sources are no longer a supplementary part of the power mix but a driving force reshaping how electricity is produced and consumed from Canada to Argentina.
North America Crosses a Key Threshold
Renewable generation across North America has moved past the 1,500 TWh mark, a milestone that reflects years of steady investment in wind farms, utility-scale solar installations, and grid modernization. The United States remains the largest contributor to this total, with Texas, California, and the Midwest leading in wind and solar deployment.
